Choices are;
Chain
There’s a whole of wisdom wrapped up in this Oskar masterpiece. The three pieces can be separated and then joined again in their original form.
What’s special about this puzzle is that it can be solved three different ways, depending on which of the three pieces is chosen as the middle piece.
Solving this puzzle requires an especially subtle kind of working of the pieces, the kind that often leaves the victim struggling in frustration.
Keeping in mind its chainlike behavior and using your feeling to your advantage is the best way to attack this.
The key word is “chain”.
Enigma
Patented in America in 1975, the somewhat swirled pieces of this puzzle by Eldon Vaughn must be disjoined and then put back together.
I once found a smaller version of this puzzle about twenty years ago in America, but considered it impossible to solve at the time.
We have made a new version maintaining the difficulty of the original and licensed it for the Cast Puzzle series.
This is without a doubt among the most difficult of all puzzles. Don’t use too much force… the pieces should just slide apart.
The key word is “twist”.
Hourglass
This puzzle is created from two each of two types of pieces.
With a scrupulously calculated design and tricky movement of the pieces, this will not be an easy puzzle to solve.
Designed by Korean designer JinHoo Ahn.
Infinity
This puzzle is called infinity not only for its appearance, but also because its movement continues endlessly until the pieces are taken apart.
Solving this puzzle will entertain you for hours even though it looks simple.
Designed by Finnish designer Vesa Timonen.
News
I came up with the idea for this puzzle when I was 19 years old. It just came to me during a stroll home in the snow, truly a creation of my youth.
Unfortunately, saying anything here about its construction would give away how to solve it.
I certainly can’t disappoint the fans that have come to expect frustratingly difficult puzzle from me.
Besides, the fans that refuse to accept any link of hint are those who make me the happiest!
The key word is “needle”.
Nutcase
There are two goals to the Cast Nutcase created by the Dutch puzzle inventor, Oskar:
1. Remove the small nut by disassembling the Cast Nutcase. 2. Cast puzzle enthusiasts (nutcase) can enjoy trying to change the wording on the bolt from ‘nut-case’ to case-nut’.
The key word is “interlocking”.
Quartet
True bonds has always been hard to form, but once formed such bonds are eternal and hard to break.
My original version was created with this image in mind, but the puzzle was completed into a Cast Puzzle with a bond that is truly difficult to unravel.
How would you go about breaking and forming this bond? There are two approaches to this puzzle and I challenge you to both!
The key word is “Bond”.
Trinity
A puzzle that interlocks each piece with the two other pieces via an elusive, organic design.
There are numerous possible combinations other than the ones shown here, giving you plenty of room to enjoy some puzzling experimentation.
Designed by Hong Kong designer Kyoo Wong.
Vortex
The three pieces each have a spiral (vortex) body and two protrusions. When assembled together, each piece is unified into a flat object.
In order to undo this complex entanglement it will be necessary to unbind them three dimensionally.
The motivation behind this idea is the statue of Asura. Asura is an ancient Indian god ans also a protector of Buddhism.
The figure with the three faces and six arms conjured up the concept of Trinity.
The theme is ‘Crest’.
Rotor
New for September 2019
The stylish design of the interlocking pieces of the same shape, are reminiscent of an emblem.
The uniquely shaped pieces, along with numerous solutions, make this a difficult puzzle.
Designed by Hong Kong designer Kyoo Wong.
